Fakey is becoming Madomi, our new manga reader

We’ve got news we’ve been sitting on for a while: our manga translator Fakey is getting a new name. Say hi to Madomi.

And honestly, it’s more than a name change. Madomi is becoming a proper manga reader. Not just the translator that pops up over a page you’re already on, but a place where you browse manga, manhwa and manhua, open a chapter, and read it in your own language without juggling three apps to do it.

Why we’re turning Fakey into a manga reader

Fakey started life translating whatever page you happened to land on. That worked, but you always had to go dig up the manga somewhere else first. The translating was the easy part. The finding and the reading were still a chore.

So we’re folding all of that into one app. Madomi reads manga and translates it on the spot with real-time AI, and we’ve got more reader features coming after launch.

The name itself comes from Japanese: 窓 (mado, “window”) and 見 (mi, “see”). Window, see. That’s pretty much the pitch. A clean window onto a story, no matter what language it was drawn in.

What the rebrand means for you

Nothing breaks. Really.

Your subscription, your credits, your login, all of it carries straight over. Everything Fakey does today still works in Madomi: the real-time manga translation, the page and YouTube summaries, the Google Forms answers, the snip-an-image-and-get-an-answer trick, the dummy form data. Same price too. The reader features are being added on top, not swapped in for what you’ve already got.

So there’s nothing you need to do.

Why the app still says “Fakey” on some devices

One heads-up. Renaming an app means updating four separate store listings (Chrome, Firefox, Google Play and the App Store), and every one of them reviews changes on its own schedule. They’re not going to flip on the same day.

That means for a few weeks you might open the app on your phone and see “Madomi,” then check your browser and still see “Fakey.” Don’t worry about it. It’s the same app whichever name is showing. We’ll update each listing as it clears review, and we’ll keep this post current as we go.
