Kuaikan Manhua has no English edition. The site and the app are Simplified Chinese only, and the handful of titles that reach English apps are a rounding error next to the catalogue. Kuaikan is where modern manhua actually gets made. It is the largest original webcomic platform in China, the place a lot of the romance and drama series that later blow up overseas were serialised first, and it publishes new chapters at a pace no English licensor comes close to matching.

Almost none of it is available in English, and that is not going to change. Here is what the platform gives you, what it costs from outside China, and how to read it.

Does Kuaikan Manhua have an English version?

No, and it is worth being precise about that, because Kuaikan does talk about going global. Since 2018 the company has licensed Chinese comics to overseas platforms, and its stated reach is a dozen languages through dozens of partner apps. That is a licensing business. Kuaikan sells a title to a foreign publisher, who translates it and runs it on their own service.

Kuaikan itself has never shipped an English site or an English app. The App Store listing for 快看漫画 declares one language, Simplified Chinese. The web reader at kuaikanmanhua.com has no language toggle. Everything on it, from the menus to the lettering, is in Chinese.

Verdict: there is no English Kuaikan and none coming, and Madomi is what turns the Chinese catalogue into a readable one.

Is the series already available in English?

Worth thirty seconds before you do anything else, because a licensed edition is the simplest route when one exists.

INKR is the main one. It has a dedicated Kuaikan Comics page with a few dozen titles, and it simulpubs a handful of them alongside the Chinese release. MangaToon and WebComics carry some manhua too. Kuaikan also ran an official channel on Tapas, but Tapas is closing by the end of 2026, so that route is going away. If your series is on one of the others, read it there. The arithmetic is the problem. Kuaikan runs thousands of original series. The English apps between them carry a few dozen, most of them run behind the Chinese release, and a title that isn’t picked up in its first year almost never is. Verdict: check the English apps first, then use Madomi for everything they don’t carry, which is nearly all of it.

Is Kuaikan Manhua free to read?

Mostly, and more generously than you might expect from a paid platform.

Free chapters. Nearly every series opens with a long free run, often dozens of chapters, and older and smaller titles are frequently free all the way through.

Wait-for-free. A lot of series carry a timer icon (等免 in the app). Read the next locked chapter now for coins, or wait out the timer and it unlocks free. It works like KakaoPage’s Wait-Until-Free, with the timer varying by title.

KK coins. The newest chapters of popular series cost KK coins, the in-app currency. In the US App Store the smallest pack is 600 KK coins for $0.99, going up to 18,800 for $29.99, and a locked chapter typically costs somewhere between 50 and 100 coins. A monthly reading habit on one or two series runs to a couple of dollars.

VIP membership. $1.99 to $2.99 a month in the App Store, or $6.99 for three months. It used to mean unlimited reading and no longer does. Chinese readers complained loudly in 2023 when membership stopped covering paid chapters, and the current model is discounts and a coin allowance, not an all-you-can-read pass. Treat it as optional.

Verdict: the reading is close to free if you’re patient, the language is the real cost, and Madomi removes it.

Can you use Kuaikan from outside China?

Yes, and it is one of the easier Chinese platforms for an international reader.

The website works anywhere. kuaikanmanhua.com loads from outside China in an ordinary browser, no VPN needed, and the chapter reader is a plain vertical scroll that works well on a laptop screen.

You don’t need a Chinese phone number. The default login is a Chinese mobile number plus SMS code, but the web app also has an email sign-up, login and password-reset flow. Pick the email option and verify from your inbox.

The iOS app is on the App Store outside China. Search 快看漫画 (or Kuaikan) on the US store and you will find it, Chinese-only, with Apple in-app purchases for coins and membership, so a foreign card works for topping up.

The Android app is not on Google Play outside China. Kuaikan distributes it through Chinese app stores and its own site. On Android, the browser is the easier route.

Verdict: nothing about the platform locks out an international reader except the Chinese, and Madomi handles that part.

Why Google Translate doesn’t work on Kuaikan

A manhua chapter is a column of images. The Chinese you want translated is lettering baked into the artwork, not text in the page.

Browser translators and page-translate buttons only read HTML.
