The QR Code in the TONIKAWA OVA Actually Works: It Adds Tsukasa on LINE

The QR code on Tsukasa’s phone in the TONIKAWA OVA is real. Scan it and LINE offers to add an official account called 由崎司, Tsukasa Yuzaki, and once you add her she messages you back, in character, asking whether you got the stickers her husband made. Fans found it the day the OVA came out, 18 August 2021. We decoded the code ourselves, translated what she says, and made a clean copy you can scan. Last checked on 27 October 2026.

Anime QR codes are mostly set dressing. Every so often a studio draws a real one, and when it does, it almost always lands in the same kind of scene: a character with a phone, swapping contacts.

TONIKAWA built a whole episode around that scene.

The scene

TONIKAWA: Over the Moon for You SNS is a standalone OVA from Seven Arcs, released on Blu-ray in Japan and on Crunchyroll worldwide on the same day, 18 August 2021. It sits between the first season (autumn 2020) and the second (spring 2023), and the title is the plot. Nasa gives Tsukasa her first smartphone. She’s thrilled, adds her contacts (Darling first, obviously), discovers LINE and stickers, and then has to spend her first night since the wedding without him when he’s called away for work. The phone is what keeps them talking.

About four and a half minutes in, while she’s still learning how adding friends works, her LINE QR code comes up on her phone. Fans in the MyAnimeList episode thread clocked it at 4:39. It’s drawn cleanly enough to scan off a paused stream, and by the end of release day people in that thread had.

Where it goes

The code holds one address: https://line.me/R/ti/p/@167kekef. That’s LINE’s standard add-friend link for an official account, and the account behind it is named 由崎司, Tsukasa Yuzaki, with her face as the profile picture. When fans opened it in 2021, its status line read 「トニカクカワイイ ~SNS~」発売中!, “TONIKAWA SNS on sale now!”, and it already had close to 10,000 friends.

Adding her is the fun part, because she talks back. Here’s the welcome message as a fan screenshotted it on release night:

The welcome message from the 由崎司 account, as posted by a fan on MyAnimeList on 18 August 2021.

And here’s what it says. This is our translation, kept as close to her voice as English allows:

Hi. This is Tsukasa Yuzaki.

Thanks for adding me as a friend. ヾ(๑╹◡╹)ノ🎁

I’m still not used to this, so I’m a little fuzzy on how it all works, but don’t worry about it.

Oh, speaking of which, my darling stayed up late making LINE stickers for me. Did you get them?

Hmm~? You g…? …got…? …them…! You got them!!

I see. You already have them. That’s what friends are for. Thank you, friend. Friends forever.

So yeah, looking forward to everything from here on ♪

The middle bit is the joke. She asks a question, then “hears” your answer one syllable at a time (手にぃ…? …入れー…? た…!) and decides on your behalf that you bought the stickers. It’s a small piece of writing, and it’s very much Tsukasa: confident, a bit teasing, and completely sure you’re on her side.

The stickers are real, too. “TONIKAWA Newlywed’s Sticker” (司と星空の新婚スタンプ), 24 of Tsukasa and Nasa, went on sale the same day as the OVA, and the set’s LINE Store page is still up.

Everything she says in that message is in Japanese, with no English option. That’s the gap Madomi was built for, just on manga pages rather than chat bubbles.

Scan it here

Here’s a clean copy of the code, carrying exactly the address the one in the episode does:

Scannable copy of Tsukasa Yuzaki's LINE QR code from the TONIKAWA ~SNS~ OVA
Same destination as the code on Tsukasa’s phone: LINE account @167kekef.

You’ll need LINE installed for it to do anything; scan it with LINE’s own scanner or your phone camera and it hands the link to LINE. One honest caveat: LINE’s web pages look the same for every account ID, live or not, so from outside the app we can’t confirm the account is still active five years on, or that the welcome message still fires. If you add her, tell us what she says.

If you’d rather scan it from the source, pause the OVA at around 4:39. A phone pointed at a paused stream usually reads it. A photo of a TV, or a screenshot that’s been squashed through a chat app, usually doesn’t.

Why this one’s the sweetest of the bunch

We’ve been collecting these. Kaguya-sama’s season 2 finale QR code opens a LINE sticker set. Love Unseen Beneath the Clear Night Sky hid a chat log between its leads behind its code. Sword Art Online went as far as keeping a real server running at an IP address for its finale.

TONIKAWA’s is the only one where the character herself answers. The rest are pages you look at. This one is a newlywed who just got her first phone, sending you a slightly scattered thank-you note, which is exactly what the episode is about.

If you want more of Tsukasa and Nasa

The anime has had two TV seasons, two OVAs (this one and the later Uniform), and the four-episode High School Days spin-off in 2023. The manga is much further along. Kenjiro Hata has been writing it in Weekly Shonen Sunday since February 2018, it’s still running, and it’s at 37 volumes in Japan.

In English it’s VIZ Media’s Fly Me to the Moon, at 33 volumes as of September 2026. That’s the easy, legal route, and it’s a lot of reading.

The newest chapters land in Japan first, roughly four volumes ahead of English. If you’d rather read them as they come out, Madomi translates each page as you scroll, the same way it handles the Japanese publisher platforms. Our guide to translating Japanese manga to English walks through the setup in about five minutes.

Frequently asked questions

Does the QR code in the TONIKAWA OVA actually work?

Yes. In TONIKAWA: Over the Moon for You SNS, released on 18 August 2021, Tsukasa’s LINE QR code appears on her new phone about four and a half minutes in, and it’s real. We decoded it: it opens LINE’s add-friend screen for an official account called 由崎司 (Tsukasa Yuzaki), ID @167kekef.

What happens when you add Tsukasa on LINE?

She sends a welcome message in Japanese, in character. She thanks you for adding her, admits she still isn’t used to LINE, then asks whether you got the sticker set her husband Nasa stayed up making for her, and decides that you did. The full message and our translation are above.

Add her, then go read the manga

The code’s still in the OVA, and the stickers are still on sale. Tsukasa would want you to have them. If you know another anime code that genuinely leads somewhere, we’d like to hear about it.
